Hona reference

So Hona is my OC. I imagine her to be the product of Makorra, as much as I really don't care for the ship anymore. She takes mostly after her mother. Hona gets her sapphire eyes, dark brown hair, waterbending prowess, and general badassness from her mother. She's not quite as tough as the Avatar had been, however. Hona is generally stubborn, but she does recognise and accept her limitations. From her father, she inherited her light skin and wait before you act concept that could almost pass for patience.

So. Hona actually grows up a little neglected. Her father is busy with Republic City cop stuff, her mother is a little busy with Avatar stuff. Hona gets more time with Korra than with Mako, so she’s Mommy’s little girl. When Hona’s about eleven years old, her mother is killed in battle. Hona is absolutely devastated. Suddenly motherless, she turns to her father, the only one she has left. But Mako is struggling greatly to deal with this sudden loss, and as a result, he becomes very detached. Left with no one else, Hona ends up reaching out to Uncle Bolin and his family. Over the next few years, she kind of almost becomes Bolin’s daughter. Mako remains detached, and remarries only two years after losing Korra. When she is fifteen, Hona takes to the streets to make a new life for herself. She also vows to find the people who killed her mother.
